I am done here

It has been an interesting month, blogging on Tumblr. But this place has more shit than Facebook, and this is not a compliment. I think I am done. Nobody will cry, but I think tumblr is not the place for having adult conversations about stuff. The most reblogged post I had was the fucking cookie monster, with almost 2000 notes. All my other “serious” posts have maximum 10 notes.

This account remains active to see what is going on and to continue to blog about motorcycling and naked women. But for the rest,  Goodbye. I go back to blogger, which is a more suitable place for what I was trying to do.

Infographic: Which countries are most reliant on Libya for oil?
Oh look, the same countries that pushed for NATO’s war in Libya: Italy, France, the United Kingdom, and the U.S. The very same countries that are now staking claim in Libya’s oil wealth.

SUN CAUSES CLIMATE CHANGE

statehate:

“[A]t a top secret, state of the art laboratory in Switzerland, scientists finally discover the true cause of “global warming.” It’s the sun, stupid. More specifically – as the Danish physicist Henrik Svensmark has long postulated – it’s the result of cosmic rays which act as a seed for cloud formation. The scientists working on the project are naturally euphoric: this is a major breakthrough which will not only overturn decades of misguided conjecture on so-called Man Made Global Warming but will spare the global economy trillions of dollars which might otherwise have been squandered on utterly pointless efforts to reduce anthropogenic CO2 emissions. However, these scientists have failed to realise just how many people – alarmist scientists, huckster politicians, green activists, eco-fund managers, EU technocrats, MSM environmental correspondents – stand to gain from the Man Made “Climate Change” industry. Their discovery must be suppressed at all costs.”

I am thoroughly enjoying this. It’s amazing how much effort and money it took for a bunch of scientists to finally prove what the rest of us have known to be true for so long.

"I recommend readers to be adventurous and to try things they’ve never heard of or considered reading before. Get out of the comfort zone and discover something new and exciting. If you’d never be caught dead in the mystery section go and read some George Pelecanos, Dennis Lehane, Michael Connelly or many others. If you only read thrillers get deep into the literary fiction aisle and let yourself be seduced. If you only read non-fiction pick up a Ian McDonald novel or a Joyce Carol Oates novel. If you only read comic books, get acquainted with the great Charles Dickens or a certain Monsieur Dumas. Pick up something at random and read a page. Feel the texture of the language, the architecture of the imagery, the perfume of the style… There’s so much beauty, intelligence and excitement to be had between the pages of the books waiting for you at your local bookstore the only thing you need to bring is an open mind and a sense of adventure. Disregard all prejudices, all pre-conceived notions and all the rubbish some people try to make you think. Think for yourself. Regarding books or anything in life. Think for yourself."

This must be one of the funniest things I have come across in a very long time. Halfass, the New Zealand’s version of the US jackass…I am looking at my far away friends from New Zealand with new eyes…

50 State Press: Some Ways to Avoid Being Naive

Valid well beyond the US, for any democratic political system in the world.

50statepress:

For the most part, I respect people’s opinions about politics, even where I disagree.

I don’t, however, respect opinions that are largely (i) ill-informed, and/or (ii) naive.

As to being informed, my standards are pretty low. As long as someone has a basic grip on the facts, I would not count…

"…the libertarian sees no inconsistency in being “leftist” on some issues and “rightist” on others. On the contrary, he sees his own position as virtually the only consistent one, consistent on the behalf of every individual. For how can the leftist be opposed to the violence of war while at the same time supporting the violence of taxation and government control? And how can the rightist trumpet his devotion to private property and free enterprise while at the same time favoring war and the outlawing of noninvasive activities and practices that he deems immoral?"

"

“When you’re young, you look at television and think - There’s a conspiracy. The networks have conspired to dumb us down. But when you get a little older, you realize that’s not true. The networks are in business to give people exactly what they want. That’s a far more depressing thought.”

This is another example of the BS that Jobs says and of his inadequacy at being a Messiah. I mean: perhaps when you are old you stop thinking that there is a conspiracy because they brainwashed you during all these years, don’t you think, my dear guru?
